Old Olavians Lodge No. 5758

School Prizes sponsored by the Lodge

The Old Olavians' Lodge, while accepting any suitable candidate as a member, is however specifically intended to be a Lodge for Old Olavians (including both teaching and non-teaching staff, Governors and their employees, and their relatives).

The lodge still maintains links with the School, and in particular has for many years sponsored the Giles Pilcher Prize which is traditionally awarded to the School Captain.

In the year 2001-2002 our then Worshipful Master (W.Bro. Richard White) obtained the agreement of the School Governors and the Headmaster for the lodge to sponsor two new prizes, to be known as the Old Olavians' Lodge Prize for Charity or Community Work.   One of these will awarded each year to a student in the upper school and the other to a student in the lower school - the recipients being nominated to the lodge by the Headmaster.   Summer 2002 saw the first awards of these two new prizes.

In the year 2002-2003, one of our oldest Past Masters, who had first attended the School in 1928, auctioned a hand crafted Cricket Bat at our Festive Board after the October 2002 meeting.   Using this money, and after discussions with the School, the Lodge presented a new School House Trophy shield.  This trophy will assist the School in improving inter-house competition, and was presented to the first winning House on 10th July 2003 W.Bro. Richard White, Immediate Past Master.
