Supporting the Royal College of Surgeons of England
In 1967 the Grand Lodge commemorated its 250th anniversary by establishing a fund which sponsors Research Fellowships at The Royal College of Surgeons of England.In the year 2000, this fund completed the sponsorship of the
200th such Fellowship. Three research
projects were supported by this fund during the year 2000, these were into:-
the behaviour of malignant tumours causing
head and neck cancer
the understanding of the "invasive" growth of
meningiomas (brain tumours)
a system to test possible artificial wrist joint replacements

The
Old Olavians Lodge contributed to this fund, and as a result was
awarded (along with many other lodges) the 250th Anniversary Commemorative Jewel - a picture of which is
shown in our Lodge
